A&E Pits Heavy Haulers Against Each Other and the World in ‘Shipping Wars’

After watching “Shipping Wars” on A&E, you’ll come away with one of two feelings: shipping a load with an independent hauler is a nightmare waiting to happen, or independent haulers represent the true spirit of risk, adventure and entrepreneurship that helped make America the powerhouse of world commerce. Actually, you may feel that both conclusions are valid. This 10-episode reality series airs on Tuesdays at 9:00 and 9:30 PM (ET/PT) on A&E and features five heavy-duty haulers: one veteran husband-and-wife team and four other individual drivers whose nicknames say it all: the Handyman, the Rookie, the Cowgirl and the Big Rig. These sometimes cutthroat gamblers-on-the-go lust after the loads that others don’t want, from huge luxury yachts, to live bulls, to massive military tanks, to a most definitely delicate Model A car. Each episode begins with a race against the clock as the five haulers bid through an auction site to be awarded the load by the deadline. It’s essentially eBay in reverse as tension mounts and the lowest bid wins. Then the fun really begins!

The rest of each episode follows two separate winners and their loads as they contend with bad roads, shifting loads, police, low bridges, angry neighbors, less-than-honest customers and the one sure thing every hauler learns to expect – the unexpected. Each load is a wager against time and the unknown that can pay off in thousands of dollars in profit for few days’ work as well as a warm feeling of accomplishment. On the other hand, it can also lead to someone taking a very cold financial bath.

The series premiered January 10 of this year. To add A&E to your programming package, visit Connect Your Home online or call 888-566-3979. Hurry to catch these fiercely independent characters as they try mightily to haul that which is all but un-haulable!
