Hannah Davis – DIRECTV’s Dream Girl

February 14th, 2013 by Charles

DIRECTV has hired Hannah Davis, a 22-year-old American model, to be a spokeswoman for their Genie product. Genie is a high definition digital video recorder system that allows five television shows to be recorded at once. It can service multiple television sets in the same home. Genie has an impressive terabyte of memory and can play two shows at once. This high tech DVR even allows viewers to begin watching a recorded show on one television and then continue watching it on a different TV. Davis appears in a television commercial featuring two guys who are unhappy with their cable service. The commercial has been seen frequently during the NFL playoff games. DirecTV’s new Dream girl, Hanna Davis, will certainly continue to turn heads as this campaign rolls on.

Hannah Davis’s appearance in this advertisement has caused her popularity to skyrocket in Internet search engines. She is due to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Hannah Davis has always been a head turner. She has dark blonde hair and green eyes and stands 5’10″ tall. Besides her stunning looks, DIRECTV was also likely attracted to Davis’s extensive advertising experience. Despite her young age, Davis is already an experienced model. She first entered the industry at the age of 14. The agencies that have represented her include, IMG, UNO, and Mega Models. Davis previously was a spokesperson for Ralph Lauren’s Ralph Rocks fragrance. She has also appeared in advertisements for several other companies, including Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria Secret, Blush Lingerie, and American Eagle. She has graced the covers of magazines like “FHM”, “D”, and “Elle”.

Davis grew up in the Virgin Islands, a tropical United States territory located in the Caribbean Sea. She currently lives in New York City. Davis has been involved in tennis and volleyball since she was a child, and has excelled in both sports. Davis even won a championship as a member of the Caribbean national volleyball team. She also lists jewelry production and Caribbean history as major personal interests. She has been rumored to be romantically involved with New York Yankees baseball star Derek Jeter.

With an impressive modeling and advertising career already underway, the future is looking bright for this up and coming model. Expect to see Hannah Davis in many more advertisements in the future.

Connect Your Home, an award-winning authorized home service retailer, was recently named as one of the Best Places to Work in Orange County. This fourth annual program was created by the Orange County Business Journal and Best Companies Group.

Companies from across the county entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Orange County. The first part consists of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part is an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The latter is weighted more heavily (75%) as employee satisfaction is obviously the top factor in deciding what companies deserve the “Best Places To Work” title.

The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Orange County, analyzed the data and determined the final rankings.

The actual rankings will be published in the Orange County Business Journal’s special report on the Best Places to Work in the October 29, 2012, issue of the Orange County Business Journal.

Fall Home Maintenance Tips

September 10th, 2012 by Charles

As the weather starts to cool down and summer gives way to fall, you will need to take time to prepare your home for the winter. Failing to winterize your home early in the fall season can cost you a small fortune. If you fail to inspect your appliances and prepare your indoor and outdoor areas, you can prevent unnecessary repairs and a huge hassle. Here are 10 maintenance tips to help you winterize your home in the fall so that you can live comfortably and even save money.

Make Sure Your Heating System Is Tuned Up
You will be using your heating system on a regular basis during the fall and the winter. Because of this, you should make the investment and have a professional technician inspect your system for efficiency and carbon-monoxide leaks. An annual tuneup can save you the trouble of paying for costly repairs and can also make sure you stay warm all winter without a high utility bill.

Insulate Your Attic
If you do not have adequate insulation in your attic, it can lead to ice dams gathering outside of your home. If you want to prevent this, look for air leaks in your attic and install new insulation.

Look for Loose Shingles
If you have loose or missing shingles, this can lead to interior damage during winter storms. Make sure you inspect your roof, invest in new shingles, and have them installed before the winter storms strike.

Caulking
The gaps that exist between your window and doorframes should be filled before the rain or the snow come. Use silicone caulk and fill in the exterior gaps so the heat cannot escape from your home and the rain cannot enter.

Make Sure You Have Downspouts
If your area is prone to getting a lot of rain, make sure that you add extensions to your downspouts so that they will deliver the water 4 or more feet from your home. Diverting water can prevent flooding.

Turn Off Your Faucets
Your exterior faucets can fall victim freezing, especially if you have not drained the water in the pipes. Make sure to disconnect your hoses and drain the water from your faucets. Use the shut-off valve and turn off the supply of water.

Testing Your Sump Pump
If you have a sump pump, be sure to test it before the rain starts. Pour gallons of water into the pit and see if it turns on. If you are not sure how to inspect your sump pump, refer to the manual.

Get Your Fireplace Ready
If you have a fireplace, chances are you will use it more than your heater. Make sure you clean out the fireplace, clean the chimney with the proper treatments, and open the damper before you burn your first fire.

Drain Your Hot Water Heater
You should drain your hot water heater on a regular basis if you live in an area where sediments tend to build up. Inspect the unit for rust and replace it if necessary.

Store Your Outdoor Furniture
Your outdoor furniture will not be very useful during the winter. Have it cleaned and store the pieces in a dry area so they can be used again when the weather warms up.

Get a start on winterizing your home in fall so that you are prepared. If you take the proper steps, you can stay warm without spending a fortune.

Who We Are, What We Do

August 16th, 2012 by Charles

We often get asked “so, what do you guys do?” A fair question, really, especially in a home services world that provides so many avenues of choice with little direction. So instead of spending the next 800 words trying to explain in detail how we make the home owners, apartment dwellers, and home services shoppers task of finding their service easier, we figured we’d give you a cool Infographic to check out. We hope it’s informative; we hope you like it. If you don’t, please send your complaints to Intern Albert. He will be crushed but it’s these kind of experiences that build character. If you do like it, well then, all credit goes to Kevin in our marketing department.

*We love Albert and everything he does for us. No interns were hurt during the making of this blog post.
