As another ongoing effort to enhance your high speed internet experience, HughesNet introduces the Download Bank, which gives you the freedom to download more at one time. Customers have wondered about their unused daily download allowance and HughesNet have answered with the Download Bank. And you don't have to do a thing to take advantage of this new feature. The Download Bank automatically starts when you activate your new HughesNet account.
Now you can "bank" your unused download allowances and carry them over to the next day, adding to that day's download allowance up to 2 times the capacity. For HughesNet subscribers to the Power 200 plan, you can potentially receive up to 900 MB! Having a full account in your download bank gives you the flexibility to download a little, or a lot, any time you want. Your Download Bank is replenished every day. You can dip into your 'savings' in the Download Bank and you can also schedule large downloads using the HughesNet Download Manager, or use a Restore Token—the FREE one you receive each month to keep your online experience up to speed.
This is how it works based on the Basic plan download allowance:
Note: Customers may bank only up to 2x their daily allowance and carry over a full day's max of their daily allowance.
As HughesNet learns more about their customers' use of the service, increase in download capacity may be planned in the near future.
What happens if I don't use all of my daily Download Allowance?
Great News! Due to some recent improvements in the HughesNet technology, you can now "bank" unused portions of your daily Download Allowance in the Download Bank. This banking of unused data has the effect of increasing the Download Allowance by the amount of the unused data from the prior 24‐hour period. If you subscribe to the Basic plan, which has a daily Download Allowance of 250 MB, and you've only used 100 MB of data during the previous 24‐hour period, your Download Allowance for the next 24‐hour period will be 250 MB, plus the unused 150 MB from the previous 24 hours, for a total of 400 MB. The Download Bank will allow you the flexibility to download larger files when you really need to, without disrupting your service.
What do I need to do to start the Download Bank?
Nothing. This FREE enhancement to your HughesNet service will continue to roll out over the next few months.
Does the Download Bank apply to all HughesNet Plans?
The Download Bank applies to most HughesNet plans including the following "legacy" plans: Home, Pro, ProPlus, Elite, ElitePlus, ElitePremium, and BI100 and BI700.
Does unused data in the Download Bank expire?
The Download Allowance is based on a rolling 24‐hour period. Subject to the Download Bank caps as listed below, unused data will not expire and will carry over into the Download Bank. The Download Bank can accumulate up to a two‐day supply of your service plan's Download Allowance.
|Plan||24-hour Download Allowance||Download Bank|
|Basic||250 MB||250 MB x 2 = 500 MB|
|Power 150||350 MB||350 MB x 2 = 700 MB|
|Power 200||450 MB||450 MB x 2 = 900 MB|
Does data transmitted during the Download Zone count in determining whether I will have any data left for the Download Bank?
No. Any data transmitted during the Download Zone using the Download Manager does not count against your daily Download Allowance, so it will not affect how much data you have left for the Download Bank for the next 24‐hour period.
Now that I have the Download Bank, can I still use Restore Tokens?
Yes. You can always use Restore Tokens to instantly reset your Download Allowance.
Is there a way to monitor my Download Allowance?
Your Status Meter continuously monitors your usage so you always know how much of your Download Allowance is available.
I'm an existing customer, how will the Download Bank work with my Status Meter?
Previously, your Status Meter measured your daily Download Allowance. Now with the Download Bank, your Status Meter will measure twice as much of your Download Allowance. 100% will now represent two days of your Download Allowance. If the Status Meter indicates 50%, that means you have one full day's worth of Download Allowance available. If you take advantage of a Restore Token, your Status Meter will reset to 50% (one day) of your Download Allowance.
