An external hard drive can be used to expand the recording storage capacity a compatible receiver model (612, 622, 722, and 722k) and transfer recordings from one receiver on your account to another. An external hard drive can also be used to turn your model 211, 211k, or 411 receiver into a DVR. To determine if you have a compatible receiver, check the model name on the front of your receiver or go to dish.com/myequipment.
